Women who had delivered premature babies have increased risk of heart disease hose decades later.
In presenting the report the results of research at the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Dr. Janet Catov and his colleagues confirmed the link between the birth of premature infants with disorders of heart problems for the mothers.
The group of scientists examined data from 446 women with an age limit of 80 years, and six percent reported never having a baby prematurely.
After deliberations by looking at whether women are using drugs that protect their heart and weigh their age, scientists discovered a woman who had delivered premature babies more than twice as likely to get heart disease than women who had never delivered a baby premature. However, further research is still needed to confirm these findings. "Delivery of premature infants may be an indication for women to do the initial screening of heart disease, as well as lifestyle changes to improve their cardiovascular health," said Catov.
