Orencia for Rheumatoid Arthritis

We have already found a drug to treat disease Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), ranging from moderate to severe.  

Drug in question is abatacept, Orencia and marketed under the name given through an IV. These drugs suppress the immune system works to relieve arthritis symptoms such as swelling, stiffness and pain in the joints. Because of the swelling and inflammation of the joints that causes some people affected by the disease that afflicts more than 2 million citizens of the United States.


Abatacept is a biologic drug released after several similar drugs such as alefacept, etanarcept, infliximab, and adalimumab who had previously known. The drug is marketed by Bristol-Myers Squib, the company secured a license from the U.S. government drug. 

Orencia is a prescription drug used to treat Rheumatoid Arthritis that is not enough just to be treated with drugs commonly used for Rheumatoid Arthritis. Orencia should not be given concurrently with biologic drugs for Rheumatoid Arthritis such as Enbrel, Humira, Remicade, or Kineret. If you have an allergic reaction after taking Orencia, you should immediately cease such treatment. 

Orencia also have side effects, such as serious infections including pneumonia. The risk of serious infection would be higher if you take Orencia with other medicines to treat Rheumatoid Arthritis. If you feel there are less comfortable in your body after taking Orencia, contact your doctor immediately. 

Other side effects such as allergic reactions also occur in the treatment Orencia, as bint allergic-red spots that itch, tongue, throat, eyelids and breathing problems. 

But, in general Orencia side effects are usually headaches, nausea, urinary problems, and sore throat. 

Orencia may be provided by your physician through intravenous (IV) with infusion. Giving Orencia through a needle inserted into a vein you will take about 30 minutes.
