Cigarettes vs Erectile Dysfunction

IF heart disease, stroke, and cancer does not cause men to stop smoking, realize a few things that smoking also increases the risk of erectile dysfunction

A study showed that men who have the habit of smoking one pack per day more than 40% of them have to struggle with erectile dysfunction compared with men who do not smoke. 

"Smoking makes nicotin-content and other content that can narrow the blood vessels into the penile blood vessels," explained Dr. Jack Mydlo, chief of Urology at the University School of Medicine and Hospital in Philadelphia.

Erectile dysfunction, also called impotence, is the inability to achieve or maintain an erection in repeated occasions. Recent study of more than 8,000 Australian men between the ages of 16-59 years, found that those who smoked less than one pack per day had 24% increased risk of erectile dysfunction. 

And the more often you smoke, the higher the risk of erectile dysfunction. Men who averaged more than smoking 20 cigarettes per day to bring themselves into the risk of erectile dysfunction as much as 39%. Once the reported study, published in the journal Tobacco Control. 

Another study, published in the American Journal of Epidemiology, found that male smokers at age 40 more likely to experience erectile difficulties than older men but not smoking. The risk of erectile dysfunction is almost doubled for male smokers by age 40 than non-smokers at age 50. 

"Smoking, because it causes constriction of blood vessels, the greatest cause of erectile dysfunction," said Dr.. Larry Lipshultz, chief of male reproductive medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.
