Rheumatic Drugs Trigger Ulcers

DRUGS group of Non Steroid Anti Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) commonly used as an arthritis pain reliever. But behind these benefits, NSAIDs have harmful side effects, namely causing gastric injury. 

The process of gastric damage caused by NSAIDs occur directly and systemically. Directly, NSAIDs are irritating to the stomach. Moderate systemic NSAIDs also reduce the amount of blood flow to the stomach, triggering the emergence of free radicals and damage to the hull protective factors. As a result of two activities, the gastric mucosa or lining of the stomach is damaged and subsequent peptic ulcers arise.

Clinically, NSAIDs gastropathy can be mild to severe.
