Guide to Prevent E.Coli Bacteria Contamination

The best way to prevent EHEC and Uraemic Haemolytic Syndrome (HUS) is clean and healthy living behavior. Here's a guidelines so you can avoid the contamination of E. coli in foods:

1. Washing hands before and after handling or food processing. In our own hands are millions of bacteria every inch of him, so although the food is free of bacteria but the hands are still dirty, it still could be infected with E.coli bacteria.
2. Washing hands after using the toilet.
3. Wash and clean cooking utensils and food supplies before and after use.
4. Keeping the kitchen area/place to process the food from insects and animals.
5. Do not put cooked food on the same container with raw food to prevent cross-contamination.

6. Not eating food that has expired or food in tin cans that have been damaged or bulging.
7. Not eating food that has smelled and taste not good.
8. Does not give honey to children under the age of one year to prevent accidental poisoning due to toxins from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum.
9. Consuming water that has been boiled.
10. Cooking food until cooked perfectly for most of the bacteria can be killed. Heating process must be carried out until the temperature in the central part of food reaches safe temperatures (> 700C) for at least 20 minutes.
11. Save immediately all perishable food in refrigerator (preferably a storage temperature below 50C).
12. Do not let cooked food at room temperature over 2 hours, because the microbes can multiply rapidly at room temperature.
13. Maintain temperature more than 600C cooked food before serving. By keeping the temperature below 50C or above 600C, microbial growth will slow or halt.
14. Storing food products that must be kept cold, such as pasteurized milk, cheese, sausage, and fruit juice in the refrigerator.
15. Storing frozen processed food products, such as nuggets, ice cream, frozen fried chicken meal, etc. in the freezer.
16. Storing not eaten food in the refrigerator.
17. Do not let thaw frozen food at room temperature.
18. Cleaning and washing fruits and vegetables before use, especially those eaten raw.
