Exclusive Breastfeeding Boost IQ
A study showed that infants who received breastfeeding exclusively for six months can increase the Intelligence Quotient (IQ) in children when grown-up. So that would make the child will be smarter than babies given formula.
The team of researchers at McGill University, Canada, found that babies who are breastfed have better IQ test results at age six.
The study, conducted on nearly 14,000 children is the latest research regarding the positive link between breastfeeding and intelligence.
Professor Michael Kramer said that breast-feed exclusively for a long time can sharpen the thinking power of children. "Although the difference appears causal, it remains unclear whether the observed cognitive benefits of breastfeeding was caused by substances contained in mother's milk or are related to the physical relationship between mothers and infants in the breastfeeding process," he added.
The content of fatty acids (fatty acids) in breast milk thought to increase intelligence, but the report said the physical and mental aspects of closeness in the process of breastfeeding may encourage permanent changes in the brains of the developing baby.
In Britain, the government recommends mothers breastfeed exclusively for six months. However, these studies show even though three-quarters of mothers initially breastfed, only one in four mothers who continue to breastfeed up to six months.
