Recognize Autism Early

AUTISM is a complex developmental disorder in children, whose symptoms had occurred before the child reaches age three. The cause of autism is a neurobiological disorder that affects brain function in such a way that children are not able to interact and communicate with the outside world effectively.

Symptoms of autism vary widely. Some children are hyperactive and aggressive behavior or self-harm, but some are passive. They tend to be very difficult to control his emotions and frequent temper tantrums (crying and raging). Sometimes they cry, laugh or get angry for no apparent reason. Because of the many differences between each individual, then this is more common developmental disorders known as Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or Autistic Spectrum Disorders (GSA).

When the symptoms of autism can be detected early and then do the proper handling and intense, we can help autistic children to develop optimally. To be able to know early symptoms of autism, has developed a checklist called the M-CHAT (Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers). These are important questions for parents:

1. Is your child interested in other children?
2. Does your child can point to notify their interest in something?
3. Does your child ever bring an object to be shown on the parents?
4. Does your child imitate your behavior?
5. Does your child respond when called her name?
6. If you point a toy from a distance, whether your child will look toward the toy?

If you answered NO to two or more questions, then you should consult with a professional who specializes.
