FOR those of you who have been attacked by bacterium tuberculosis (Tb), although currently healthy, should take one dose of vitamin D per day.
Why? because the vitamin that can increase your immunity against the virus.
"Vitamin D is a drug to treat tuberculosis before the antibiotic is found," said Dr. Andrian R Martineau who conducted the study.
Martineau asked 131 adults who had exposure to the virus Tb to take a dose of 2.5 mg vitamin D or placebo.
A total of 67 people given vitamin D and 64 people given placebo. They then checked periodically for the presence of tuberculosis infection.
Result, those who receive supplements of vitamin D increase the body's immunity against tuberculosis bacteria than those who received placebo.
