SPARE bacteria in your gut. Various studies have shown a lot of good bacteria play a role in human health. Research David W. Kauffman, a professor of epidemiology at the University of Boston in the United States add to that list. His research showed the presence of bacteria in the gut Oxalobacter formigenes effect on reducing the potential for kidney stone disease.
In the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology March 5 issue, described, Kauffman conducted a study of 247 patients suffering from kidney stones and 259 patients who were free of kidney stones. Kauffman then took samples of dirt from the sample.
From the looks of their sample suffered from kidney stones has only O. formigenes bacteria content of 17%. Meanwhile, those who are free of kidney stones contain up to 38% O. formigenes in feces. O. formigenes bacteria live in human intestines.
The bacteria that help digest the oxalate salt which is widely available in vegetables like spinach, beets, and beans. Meanwhile, it is known, kidney stones are formed from calcium oxalate.
Kauffman and his team are now researching to develop the O. formigenes as a probiotic. If successful, the bacteria can be given to people with low O. formigenes. However, Kauffman says the road to that goal still requires a long research. Therefore for now, keep your digestion.
