Beware of Crypto Parasites in Swimming Pool

As busy parents, sometimes we want to spend time with our children somewhere. Children tend to prefer to choose a swimming pool for recreation. However, you realize there are dangers lurking in the swimming pool.


Is the parasite Cryptosporidium (Crypto) found in water can cause diarrhea for 1 to 3 weeks, cramping or abdominal pain, dehydration, nausea, vomiting, fever, and weight loss. Symptoms exposed to parasites that grow in water usually begin at least 2 to 10 days after infection.

Crypto spreads through contaminated water and swallowed by us or even when we are diving, swimming pool water accidentally swallowed. Crypto not spread into the blood. The important thing we can do is keep crypto bacteria away from the water.

Even in the well-maintained swimming pool, crypto can survive for 10 days. It's because crypto is resistant to chlorine. Despite the fact that there is chlorine in the water, but the water is still not sterile because it is not for consume.

There are a few tips for preventing disease caused in water:

1. Do not swim when you're diarrhea. Do not go back to the pool before you're cured of diarrhea, at least 2 weeks after your diarrhea stops.

2. Do not swallow water in the pool. Avoid water that goes into your mouth.

3. Shower before you swim.

4. Wash your hands after using the toilet or changing diapers.

5. Bring your child into the bathroom to clean up the dirt on the genitals and anus, or more often to check your baby's diaper.

6. Bathe your child before swimming with soap and water, even though they look clean.
