Try Another Antidepressant Therapies

FOR people suffering from depression that can not be cured by one type of treatment-resistant depression, switch to a different type of treatment that might be the best treatment.

Relative new antidepressants such as Prozac and Zoloft, for example, called serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs).
In a recent clinical trial, only three depressed patients who successfully underwent treatment with an SSRI, a source said there should be an agreement with a psychiatrist about the best treatment for a patient when treatment with an SSRI is not successful.

In view of this, Dr. George I. Papakostas and colleagues from Harvard Medical School, Boston, said there are four clinical trials comparing the two versions of the turn of SSRI treatment with medication non-SSRI antidepressants for severe depression.

Based on incoming data, there were 1496 patients who did not respond to SSRI treatment and that switching to another medication.

The results indicate that the latest treatments for patients with depression are less than ideal. "That will continue to be a desire to introduce new anti-depression meditation," says Dr. John Krystal.
