Backpacks Inhibits Blood Circulation

CARRYING a heavy backpack can reduce blood flow to the shoulder, fingers, and can cause loss of motor skills. A study conducted by researchers from the University of California stating that blood flow through large and small blood vessels in the upper body will drop nearly 50% in adults carrying backpacks weighing 11.8 kg for ten minutes.

Backpack straps are usually located in the upper part of the body where blood vessels. If the blood vessels is stressed, blood flow to the shoulder and arm is not normal. The research involved 10 volunteers, 6 males and 4 females.

Their blood flow was measured before and after 10 minutes shouldered shouldering a backpack weighing 26 pounds. Last year, the same team is also doing research on children. They concluded that children who carry bags weighing at least 10% of their body weight will experience fatigue, especially on the back.
