Anorexia Disorders, Thin Obsessed
People who have anorexia become obsessed with dieting and weight loss. They become afraid of getting fat and have a picture of himself on his body, seeing themselves overweight, even when they are actually very thin.
Besides the symptoms appear they usually eat very little, zealous in exercising, eating habits which adhere to the rules and abuse of laxatives cause excessive loss of weight.
Most people who suffer from anorexia typically have a history of being overweight.
Anorexia usually begins in mid-adolescence, although it may have been happening at a younger age or older. Anorexia is usually more common in women than men, which is about 90%.
Lack of food consumption and its elements are essential for the body, and prevent the normal metabolism of fats, could result in:
1. Unusual heartbeats that can lead to cessation of heartbeat and death.
2. Dehydration
3. The emergence of kidney stones and kidney failure.
4. Muscle weakness causes a lot of work.
5. Constipation
6. The emergence of the fine hairs on the face and hands.
7. Lack of calcium can cause osteoporosis.
8. Disruption or even cessation of menstrual periods.
PREVENTION
Similar to bulimia, it is difficult to prevent anorexia, the reason why anorexia occurs is not clear. But maybe can do some prevention or control of multiple risk factors, such as social and cultural pressures to be thin, violence, low self-esteem and family dysfunction. The most important step is the individual must realize that they have a problem.
For treatment is not much different from bulimia. A person should consult with a psychiatrist to address the problem of eating habits, counseling, and antidepressants and get advice about healthy eating. For patients who have severe anorexia, may be referred to the hospital to address the problems caused at least eat.
