Health Body Control with Biofeedback

How does it feel if you could see directly into your body? If you see your heart beat, could you speed it up or slow it down? If you could see your veins pumping blood to the fingers, can you increase blood flow? It is not just a fantasy. With biofeedback therapy, you can see the process in the body and fix it by giving a positive response.

What is biofeedback?
Biofeedback is a process of consciously change and control, the body's vital functions which usually happens without us knowing it, through information provided electronic equipment used. These vital functions including breathing process, heart rate, and blood pressure.

Biofeedback therapy can be said is still new. This therapy is put into use at the end of the 1960s. This therapy is based on the belief of scientists, that the processes in the body that usually goes unnoticed, it can be controlled consciously.

How biofeedback works

In doing this therapy, the therapist will use cables and a monitor to show the process that occurs in your body. During the follow biofeedback, you will be asked to sit comfortably in a quiet room. Next, the therapist will attach sensors to the forehead or arm to measure pressure in your muscles. In addition, the therapist might also put a heat sensor to your finger. This is to know your condition. For example, when you are relaxed, then your fingers will be warmer. These sensors will be connected to a monitor screen.

The results of the measurement sensors (such as muscle tension, skin temperature, heart rate, and breathing) will then are shown in pictures and sound on the monitor screen. The results on the screen you can see in the form of noise (like sound, tit, tit, tit), flashes of light, or change the image on the computer screen. Furthermore, you can use relaxation techniques, meditation, and visualization is taught therapists to improve results.

With attention to feedback from the monitor, you can view your progress during therapy. When you show the appropriate response, for example by relaxing your jaw is tense, and then you will bring positive feedback from the machine: a flash of light will stop, the sound of "beep" also stopped, Or images that appear on the screen changes from an angry face into a happy face.

After learning to adjust your body's reaction, you will begin to realize what it feels like the appropriate response (response healthier). This therapy aims to duplicate this response into your daily life, without the aid of biofeedback equipment. Just like any other skill, the more frequent practice, then you will be more adept at changing the feedback.

You do not need to fear the presence of wires taped to your body and connected to the computer. The process is easy and painless. Once connected, you'll automatically send signals to the machine and the machine will measure it. Most people require between 5 and 10 sessions of therapy to be able to recognize and control their body's responses.

This therapy can also help stroke patients to restore the ability to walk, grasping, and other hand functions. In addition, biofeedback also plays a role in overcoming addiction to alcohol and drugs. Biofeedback is also often used in dealing with complications such as diabetes.
