Recognize the Symptoms of Migraine

MORE than 10% of men in the UK is estimated to suffer from migraine. Migraine is a severe headache that usually afflicts one side of the head and often accompanied by other symptoms such as nausea and vomiting. It is estimated that migraine is associated with reduced blood levels in serotinin brain chemistry. 

There are two types of migraine that is classic and common migraine. In classic migraine, the headache is preceded by a phase beginning as seeing flashing lights, temporary vision loss, speech problems or numbness on one side of the face or arm may occur. In common migraine types, not the aura that initiate headaches.

Both the classic and common migraine, attack 4 to 72 hours and is usually felt on one side of the head. Until now, patients usually need to rest in a quiet, dark room for throbbing headaches often get worse because of the movement, sound and light. 

The cause of migraine remains unclear, but changes in blood vessel size and levels of neurotransmitters (chemical messengers) in the brain believed to influence. In particular, reduced levels of chemicals in the brain believed serotinin also give effect to the dilation of blood vessels that causes a throbbing headache. 

Many factors can trigger migraines, including tiredness, stress, dehydration, not eating or eating late, and some food and drinks, such as cheese, chocolate, coffee, tea and alcohol. 

Migraine can not be cured but can be kept under control. By consuming milk and products containing milk may prevent the emergence of migraine. 

Some men find that taking a medicine when the attack occurred soon be able to reduce the pain and duration of the attack. 

Not everyone with migraine needs to go to the doctor, but if the medication does not help the headaches, the attacks came more frequently, or change to the symptoms of the common migraine, you should immediately consult a doctor. 

Treatment also included headache medicine, enabling combined with painkillers, or drugs to restore levels to normal serotinin. Some people seek help to acupuncture, osteopathy, yoga or relaxation.
