Laughter Therapy Overcome Stress

IF you feel stressed and depressed, try to laugh more often. Some researchers think laughter may be the best medicine, helping you feel better and restore your joy. 

"I believe if someone could laugh more in their lives, they will get more," said Steve Wilson, MA, CSP, a psychologist and laugh therapy. "They can also become healthier."

But researchers are not sure if that laughter makes people feel better. A good sense of humor, positive attitude, and support from friends and family may play a role as well. Indeed, research on the benefits of laughter have not been performed. 

When we laugh, there are psychological changes when we laugh. We stretch the muscles of the face and body, our nerves, blood pressure rises, and we breathe faster, sending more oxygen to the tissues. 

Laugh can also burn calories. Maciej Buchowski, a researcher from Vanderbilt University, conducted a small study where he measured the amount of calories spent while laughing. And it turns out, with a laugh for 10-15 minutes burns 50 calories. 

Laugh Effects for the Body 

In recent decades, researchers have studied the effects of laughter on the body and produce some interesting information about how laugh affects us. 

1. Blood flow. With laughter makes blood flow to normal. 

2. Immune response. Increased stress is associated with decreased immune system response. Several studies have shown that the ability to be funny can increase the resistance of infection for antibodies in the body and increase the number of immune cells as well. 
  
3. Levels of blood sugar levels. A study of 19 people with diabetes showed the effects of laughter on blood sugar levels. After eating, a group of people with diabetes follow a boring lesson. The next day they eat the same food and watch comedy. After watching the comedy, the level of blood sugar levels in the group will be lower than when after the course. 

4. Relaxation and sleep. A book that contains the experience of someone who often feel the pain of the spine, after watching a comedy film made him feel better. With ten minutes laughing gave two hours of sleep without feeling sick.
