Tips Avoid RSI Due to Office Work

Did you know Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI)? Namely skeletal muscle complaints due to work carried out continuously. Complaints are also known as Cumulative Trauma Disorder, which is a disturbance in the upper arm associated with the work being done every day.

Complaints are many suffered by employees who work with a static sitting position in front of a computer by moving the hand repeatedly every day, such as pressing a mouse, and typing with the keyboard in a long time.

The early symptoms of Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI):

  • Difficulty opening and closing the hand
  • Hand muscles cramp
  • Difficulty using hands, such as the finger was stiff when flipping the book, holding the handle of the cup, and so on
  • The hand was cold and pain in the wrist
  • Around the shoulders and back pain, especially the morning after waking up
  • Shaking hands

Tips to avoid Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI):

  • Reduce the use of computers when not at work (such as playing games)
  • Often replace right and left hand to press the mouse
  • Take some time to rest
  • Do not type more than 30 minutes without resting
  • Stretch as often as possible, so that muscles do not cramp
  • Perform with correct sitting position, 90-degree sitting position, leaning back in chair, hand to elbow is supported, the monitor is at your eye height.
