Breast Self-Examination (BSE) Avoid Breast Cancer


Approximately 8-9% of women around the world have a risk of breast cancer. Even the statistics say every year one million women detected as a new patient of this disease and approximately 372 thousand patients died.

There are several factors that cause a woman affected by breast cancer risk:

1. Family history has ever had breast cancer
2. with age
3. Not having children
4. The first pregnancy occurred at age 30
5. Longer menstrual periods (first period came early and late menopause)
6. Hormonal factors (both estrogens and androgens)

7. Never breastfed
8. Lifestyle and unhealthy eating patterns

Men can also develop breast cancer, although the percentage is small (5% -7%) but did not rule out every guy have that risk. Breast cancer in men is also dangerous.

The spread of breast cancer in men is faster because the tissue around the breast more men than women so thin in the early stages may have occurred in the surrounding tissue attachment. It is therefore advisable men also perform BSE (breast self-examination) so that any rapid change known.

Steps Breast Self-Examination:

1. Sitting Position

   - Fingering the surface of the breast in a circular motion
   - Observe the changes in the skin, the nipple and surrounding
   - Pay attention if any skin redness, and increased interest into the blood vessels
   - Check carefully whether the breast skin and nipples shrink
   - Lift one of your hands, and then place it on the back of the head. Raba and observe all the armpits and the lower neck.

2. Sleeping position

   - Beginning of the breasts that you feel is healthy or normal and touches her a bit pressured to make sure the area around the armpit lumps exist.
   - Continued with breasts that you feel is problematic, feel the difference
   - Observe and record the location, size lumps, abnormalities you find.

Here are the changes that you should be aware:

- There is a new lump (whether sick or not)
- Veins on the surface of the skin of one breast clearly visible
- There is a sticky liquid like blood coming out of the nipple, and any changes in the skin around the nipple or breast, such as wrinkles.

- The position of one breast to be lower than the other breast.
