Asthma Trigger Heart Disease

Be careful if you start developing asthma in adulthood. Research Dr Stephen J Onufrak and colleagues from Mississippi to prove an attack of asthma in adulthood could potentially increase the risk of heart disease and stroke in women.

Onufrak using data from hundreds of respondent of the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities research to ensure the relationship of asthma to heart disease and stroke by gender.

The result, compared with non asthmatics, people with asthma as an adult female, 2.10 times greater risk of heart attack, and 2.36 times greater risk of stroke.

Onufrak add the results of the study showed no association between asthma that began to emerge in childhood or in adulthood with heart disease or stroke in men. And no association with asthma that began to emerge in the children with heart disease or stroke in women.
