Five Benefits of Yogurt for Body


Did you know that yogurt has benefits for the body? Good bacteria found in yogurt are needed by the body, especially to help the course of digestion. Miguel Freitas, PhD, medical marketing manager for Dannon Co., Says profit for the body is due to the probiotics contained in the good bacteria in yogurt.

Yogurt comes from milk. Therefore, people who ate yogurt will also benefit from animal protein (about 9 grams per 6 ounce serving), plus several nutrients that are also found in everyday foods, such as calcium, vitamin B-2, B-12, potassium, and magnesium.

Here are five yogurts health benefits:


1. Yogurt may prevent osteoporosis.
Calcium has shown beneficial effects for bone mass in humans with a variety of ages. And the combination of calcium with high doses of vitamin D contained in the yogurt has obvious benefits for bone.

2. Yogurt may reduce risk of high blood pressure.
Research shows a 50% decrease of high blood pressure risk among people who ate 2-3 servings of low fat milk or yogurt per day or more, compared with those who do not eat them.

3. Yogurt can facilitate the digestive system.
By eating yogurt, then we can avoid some of the conditions of gastrointestinal diseases, such as, lactose imbalance, constipation, diarrhea, colon cancer, intestinal inflammation, and infection of H. pylori in the stomach.

4. Yogurt can lower the risk of vaginal infections.
Fungal infections or Candida of the vagina, is a common problem in women with diabetes. In the study, women who ate yogurt dropped from 6 to 4 (normal pH level is 4 to 4.5). These women also reported a decrease in Candida infections.

5. Yogurt can help you feel fuller.
A study at Washington University in Seattle tested the level of hunger, satiety, and calories 16 men and 16 women who ate snacks with levels of 200 calories. It was a yogurt snack semisolid and liquid yogurt, beverages containing milk with peach flavor and peach fruit juice. The results show two types of yogurt consumed decrease hunger and enhance satiety than other snacks.
