Chocolate may be avoided for the sake of your diet, but do not avoid these foods during pregnancy. Eating lots of chocolate was very good for you and your baby in the womb.
Research conducted recently by Yale University researchers proved that mothers who ate chocolate every day, reducing the potential for preeclampsia disease to 65%.
Preeclampsia can cause swelling, excess weight, headaches, heart problems, and vision problems in infants. This condition is extremely dangerous in newborns.
The study, led by Elizabeth Triche observed 1681 women. A total of 1346 infants had umbilical cord blood samples taken. A baby who has high content of theobromine (a substance that exists in chocolate) was observed can reduce the potential of preeclampsia.
Theobromine is known to have a positive effect on diuresis, excessive urine production. Magnesium content of chocolate is also useful to reduce blood pressure, while the flavonoids act as antioxidants. Triche said darker the chocolate more better. Chocolate without a lot of processing is also better because have more content of theobromine.
