More Children More Tooth Loss

Old myth that more children more tooth loss is has a point. An assistant professor at the University of New York Dr. Stefanie Russell found the more often a woman pregnant, the greater the potential risk tooth loss.

Russell researching the 2635 women aged 18-64 years who have been pregnant at least once. The research found a number of pregnancies or the child turned out to affect the cases of tooth loss in women. This was due to biological and behavioral changes in women during pregnancy and childbirth.

The first factor, pregnancy can make women prone to gingivitis (gum inflammation). On second or subsequent pregnancy, women at risk of gingivitis are greater than ever before.

Second, women tend to delay teeth care during pregnancy because of the concentration for the baby. Third, care for the child causes a mother reduce time for dental care.
