Not All Vitamins Good for Health

If you always take vitamins regularly, you may be confused to choose which one is right when in a supermarket line displaying various kinds of vitamins. Starting from vitamin A to glucosamine. Sometimes we even do not know what the actual contents.

Researchers at Brigham and women's hospitals in the Boston Women's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, found that vitamins C and E cannot protect men from heart attacks. The study, published in The Journal of the American Medical Association also found that vitamin E even increases the risk of stroke due to bleeding, which can be deadly.

A study in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute also found that vitamin D and calcium are consumed every day cannot protect against malignant breast cancer.

Here is a list of vitamins that are always consumed by some experts every day:

Dr. Andrew Weil: 66-year-old, director of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine.

He consumes:

1. Multivitamin / multimineral daily

2. Vitamin D. Vitamin D deficiency has been associated with breast cancer, colon cancer, prostate cancer, heart disease, sclerosis, also some other diseases. Studies show that most people are deficient in vitamin D. Weil recommends you to see the label, make sure you get vitamin D3 instead of vitamin D2.

3. Magnesium. Magnesium deficiency can cause irritation, muscle weakness, and abnormal heartbeat.

4. Juvenon (Omega). This component is believed to improve the health and function of cells. This supplement contains two nutrients, acetyl-L-carnitine and alpha lipoic acid. Juvenon can increase energy, sharpen the brain, and make sleep more soundly.

5. Co-Q-10, which adds to supplement coenzyme Q10, which is produced by the human body and essential for basic cell functions. Studies in animals show that coenzyme Q10 helps boost immunity and makes the body more resistant to attack infections and cancer.

That is not consumed:

Weil says that men should not take iron unless they are diagnosed with anemia by experts. He also recommends that men do not consume calcium supplements, because it can increase the risk of prostate cancer.

Dr. Christiane Northrup: aged 50, author of The Secrets of Menopause.

She consumes:

1. Supplements of antioxidants

2. Fish oil. Some studies found that fish oil, containing omega 3 fatty acids, can help reduce triglyceride levels, lower blood pressure, reduce depression.

3. Calcium, which can prevent osteoporosis, a particular problem experienced by older women.

4. Magnesium

5. Coenzyme Q10

She stressed that the vitamin is not a cure. They do not work the same way in the body.
"Vitamins should be consumed in the correct amount," says Northrup.

That is not consumed:

She said that postmenopausal women often do not need iron, consume too much iron can lead to heart disease risk.

Dr. Walter Willett: 63 years old, head, Department of Nutrition, Harvard School of Public Health.

He consumes:

1. Multivitamins

2. Vitamin D

He agreed with Dr. Weil: men do not need extra calcium; substantial consumption increases the risk of prostate cancer.

Dr. Melina Jampolis: 38-year-old

She consumes:

1. Multivitamins

2. Calcium

3. Vitamin D

4. Omega 3

She advised everyone to take a multivitamin. "I call it as an insurance policy," She said.

That is not consumed:

"I do not believe that vitamins help a lot in creating a healthier skin, better get the nutrients from your diet, drinking water, and wear sunscreen," says Jampolis.
